The San Francisco to New York Plus tour starts in San Francisco and ends in New York City. The San Francisco to New York Plus is a Cities tour that takes 22 days taking you from San Francisco to New York City and through other destinations in the USA.

Take the southern route from San Francisco all the way to fabulous New York City! The Golden Gate awaits, before swapping city for nature at beautiful Yosemite. Live it up in Las Vegas, before seeing one of the world’s most impressive natural wonders – the Grand Canyon. Find wild West adventure at Monument Valley, get weird in Austin and soak up that famous Southern charm in Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. Once you’ve had a deep dish pizza in Chicago, your journey’s almost at an end – via Cleveland (not just a Family Guy character), you’ll end up in the world's favourite city, New York

ITINERARY

Day 1:San Francisco
The perfect place to begin your tour, San Francisco is a cosmopolitan, buzzing city with plenty to do and lots of areas to explore. Before you meet your guide and new travel companions at 18:00, take in some of what the ‘City by the Bay’ has to offer: Walk the Golden Gate Bridge for incredible city skyline views, spot sea lions and sample the foodie delights at Pier 39, or take a stroll into the colourful Castro or hip Haight-Ashbury districts. If you’re planning on visiting Alcatraz before you join us, make sure you book in advance.

Day 2-3: Yosemite National Park
Get back to nature with two awesome days exploring California's beloved Yosemite National Park. Take some time exploring the valley on foot or by bike, or if you want more of an adventure, there are tons of incredible hikes to get stuck into. One of the most popular trails, jam-packed with natural beauty, is the ‘Mist Trail’ hike to Vernal and Nevada Falls. Not only will you see epic waterfalls but you might even spot some incredible wildlife, such as coyotes or bears.

Day 4-5:Las Vegas
Next up is the craziest city in America - you won't believe it until you see it! Elvis lookalikes trawling The Strip, roller coasters flashing past before your eyes, and beautiful people in bikinis and board shorts drinking cocktails at daytime pool parties. You're in Vegas, baby, and there really is nowhere else quite like it. There ain't no party like a TrekAmerica party, so that's why we've included a private party bus for you and your new mates, so get those red cups at the ready. Experience the buzz of 'Sin City' with a stroll down The Strip - you won't make it all the way along though, as it's a whopping four miles long!

Day 6-7:Grand Canyon National Park
Strike out across the desert in search of one of the ‘Seven Natural Wonders of the World’, the Grand Canyon. As soon as you lay eyes on this super special place, you'll want to give Mother Nature a well-deserved high five! Take to the sky on an optional helicopter flight to witness the monumental red-and-gold formations from up high. Hike deep into the canyon on the Bright Angel Trail or check out the aptly named ‘Ooh Aah Point’ on the South Kaibab Trail. At sunset or sunrise, the views are particularly special and will leave you breathless!

Day 8:Monument Valley
Stretching desert gives way to red rock vistas as you approach the iconic Monument Valley. Home to the Navajo, experience a backroads tour led by a local for a true insight into their culture and history. If you start re-enacting a western movie, we really don’t blame you!

Day 9:Santa Fe
You’re in New Mexico, where the best of two cultures collide! Indulge yourself in the best Tex-Mex cuisine before taking a walk to check out Santa Fe’s thriving art scene. In the evening, get your dancing shoes on for a spot of live music.

Day 10:Amarillo
Get arty at Texas talking point Cadillac Ranch – where you’ll find a line of Cadillacs half buried in the desert sands. Don’t worry – it’s art! Grab a can of spray paint and make your mark on this famous installation, before heading back on the road to experience real Texan countryside.

Day 11-12:Austin
Famous for its live music and quirky charms, take some time getting to know the state capital of Texas. Discover why locals ‘Keep Austin Weird’ in the coffee shops, eccentric stores, restaurants, food trucks, trailers and festivals of South Congress district.

Day 13-14:New Orleans
This jazz-tastic town moves at its own pace and you'll find yourself embracing the laid-back vibes in no time. Music fills the air in New Orleans and you can't leave without spending an evening on Bourbon Street, legendary for its nightlife, or Frenchmen Street, famous for cool live music. For a really authentic Southern experience check out a 'Voodoo and Graveyard' tour or brush up on your cooking skills at the New Orleans Cooking School so you can learn to make yourself a big ole' bowl of gumbo!

Day 15-16:Memphis
As the birthplace of blues and rock 'n' roll, there's no shortage of great music in Memphis to excite your ears. No trip to Memphis is complete without a stroll down Beale Street to see the bright lights and hear the eclectic mix of music flowing out of every doorway. It's also essential to make a pilgrimage to America's second-most visited private home after the White House, Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion, for a tour of his home and loads of other interesting exhibits. Sun Studio is another must for music fans or find your American soul with a trip to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Memphis isn't all about music though; brush up on an essential chapter in your American history with an optional visit to the Civil Rights Museum to learn all about the struggle to overcome slavery and oppression.

With your love of all things country in full swing, it's perfect timing as you cruise into Nashville, the undisputed home of country music. Experience musical history with a visit to the world-famous Grand Ole Opry and The Country Music Hall of Fame. If you're looking for a rocking party make sure you join us for a night in the Wildhorse Saloon - by the end of the evening you and your Trek mates will be line dancing legends. Hit Broadway - the nightlife hub of the city, or laze in one of the many parks for a more relaxing Nashville experience.

Day 21:Cleveland

The highlight of your time here will be an included visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where you can learn about the evolution of a musical phenomenon, oh and did we mention that you'll find Michael Jackson's sparkly glove inside? Awesome!

Day 22:New York City
On your final day, make your way to the city so good they named it twice – New York, New York! Your tour may be coming to an end, but why not book up some extra nights to explore the city's neighbourhoods, from laid-back Greenwich Village to hip Brooklyn, or check out the famous hotspots like Central Park or Fifth Avenue. Finish your day off sampling some of the famous New York street food - the NYC hot dog is one of the best!This tour ends at approximately 17:00. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00.
