The Alaskan Denali tour starts and ends in Anchorage. The Alaskan Denali is a Mountains tour that takes 9 days taking you through Anchorage, USA and other destinations in the USA.

Here's one for all you wild things! From shimmering glaciers and North America's highest peak, to pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife-filled valleys, the 49th state has it all. Hike off the beaten path, climb glaciers, canoe or raft in glacier-fed rivers, or fly to the base of ‘the Great One’. Experience our last true frontier and go ‘North to Alaska’. ITINERARY

Day 1:Anchorage, Homer

Kick-start your Alaskan adventure in the quaint and quirky town of Homer, at the head of Kachemak Bay on the Kenai Peninsula. Surrounded by wilderness and ocean, Homer is known as ‘the cosmic hamlet by the sea' and is a picturesque town with a bustling harbour and dramatic surrounding scenery. This is the perfect place for kayaking or a spot of sea fishing for halibut (permit purchased locally).

Day 2-3: Kenai Fjords National Park, Seward

The coastal town of Seward awaits your arrival and if it's stunning mountain scenery you're after, then you're in the right place! With picturesque views of the bay, and a superb location close to Kenai Fjords National Park, Seward offers both land-based and marine wildlife as well as a wonderful selection of tours, cruises and activities. Seward is home to the Harding Icefield, one of the largest in the USA. For a truly epic day, hike the Harding Icefield Trail, or get out on the water on a cruise to Kenai Fjords where you can spot Orcas, porpoises and sea otters, and hear glaciers calve huge chunks of ice into the sea with an ear-splitting crack!

Day 4-5: Denali National Park

Head north and stop at Talkeetna for the chance to try some reindeer sausage, a local delicacy, before arriving at awe-inspiring Denali National Park with its endless views and hiking opportunities. Your included scenic bus pass will help you explore, but the Denali rangers encourage visitors to get off the beaten track, and you'll soon feel like a real explorer as you head out into this vast wilderness. Daylight is well and truly on your side in Alaska as summer puts in so many overtime hours this far north, giving you more time to explore this wild wonderland. Try and spot the Alaskan ‘Big Five’: caribou, wolves, Dall Sheep, moose and Grizzly Bear, as you hike in the shadows of Mount Denali, which is usually translated as 'The Great One'. It's North America's highest mountain, standing at an incredible 6,190m (20,320 ft)! If budget allows, opt for a once in a lifetime scenic flight over Mount Denali, the views are simply breathtaking.

Day 6:Alaska Range

Drive along the Denali Highway to the Maclaren Lodge in the Alaskan Range, a beautiful spot by the river to watch the setting sun. Rent a canoe and enjoy your peaceful surroundings, with snow-capped mountains as your backdrop.

Day 7-8:Wrangell-St. Elias National Park

The scenery just keeps on getting better and better as you take the scenic road along the Alaska Mountain Range towards America's largest national park - Wrangell-St Elias. It's home to many of America's highest peaks and largest glaciers - including a glacier that's bigger than the state of Rhode Island. The next couple of days are going to be pretty epic. Untended trails, unpaved roads and unending views are exactly what you signed up for! Wilderness camping amongst this scenery is a real highlight. As the Wrangell Mountains cast their lengthy shadow, ready yourself for some top-notch glacier action. How about a spot of ice climbing on Root Glacier? If you'd rather keep your feet on the ground, opt for a visit to the Kennecott Copper Mine.

Day 9:Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Anchorage

Finally, with memory cards full of awesome images, you're back from the wilderness and it's time to return to civilisation. Anchorage is a city that has it all, with heaps of local walking trails, shops aplenty and a great bar and restaurant scene. We suggest staying a few extra nights after the tour to explore.This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
